Russo 'n' the rat

THE one-time lead singer of the Boomtown Rats, Bob Geldof, looks likely to come to Australia in the next few months and it's all as a result of a business dinner with a Queensland corporate chief.

Word is that jobs queen Sarina Russo organised a dinner with Sir Bob, Cherrie Blair, the Pratt family and trucking magnate Lindsay Fox at Blair's London abode.

It emerged that Geldof just happened to be an Ambassador to Brisbane - as is Russo – and the pair compared notes about their respective roles.

As a result we hear Geldof may be coming to Melbourne and perhaps Brisbane to conduct a few lunches and dinners talking about his passion: poverty in Africa and job creation in the UK.

Hopefully someone will convince him to take to the microphone and belt out a few tunes while he is at it. "I don't like Mondays."
