Logan Employers get behind jobs campaign
Jobs worth more than $1,654,000 have been secured in the Logan West Leader area in June as a result of a successful community jobs campaign.
The Sarina Russo Job Access campaign had been successful because of great support from the local business community, said Logan Central manager John Bridge.
The annual salaries of all jobseekers placed in June have been added together to determine the final figure.
Thanks to employers such as Mark Forrester at Keystone Disability Services, the jobs campaign had enjoyed great success.
Mr Bridge said Sarina Russo had placed new trainees in the factory, which makes equipment such as the headphones used in aeroplanes.
He said Sarina Russo Job Access put a lot of energy into marketing the skills of jobseekers directly to local employers.
A good attitude is a great start when it comes to looking for a job, Mr Bridge said.
Skills and processes can be taught on-the-job but the right attitude is a wonderful commodity for jobseekers to possess, he said.
Sarina Russo Job Access also offers post placement mentoring and training support to the new employee and employer.
Other key Sarina Russo job search strategies which helped many candidates get jobs include:
- Setting specific, measurable and timely goals such as phoning three employers within their industry of choice every day.
- Research. Find out what the employers need.
- Developing a prospects list.
- Proactively look for a job because jobs don’t look for you.
Mr Bridge said he continued to encourage local employers needing staff to contact Sarina Russo Job Access as there were still many experienced and skilled local jobseekers on the books ready to work straight away.
