I’m in my 50s and thinking about a career change

I’m in my 50s and thinking about a career change.  What’s the best way to go about it?

1. Determine the industry sector you want to work in and upgrade your skills. There’s big demand for entry-level qualifications (Certificate II level) in retail, hospitality, business administration, financial services, customer contact.

2. Consider self-employment, including consultancy work, subcontracting or a small business.

3. Be confident in your abilities.  The knowledge and experience you have is a great selling point to employers. Make the most of your networks, especially previous work associates and people you know through clubs and groups.
