Success in retraining – Caboolture Shire Herald
THE jobs market today is a competitive one. More and more people are applying for each and every job that becomes available. The chief executive officer of the Sarina Russo Skills Institute, John Slater, said those applying for the jobs needed to update and improve their skills in industries where there were vacancies,.
"The idea of our training is to give a client the skills, find a potential employer for work experience and then support the person once they have gained employment," he said. Pharmacy assistant Donna Mason is into her third week of employment following her course. "It is just wonderful," she said. Ms Mason impressed her new boss as an employee during her work experience and snagged herself a great job close to her Morayfield home. "I had been out of the workforce for 10 years and really lacked confidence," she said. "I was competing with younger people and needed to update my skills. "But more than anything else having the opportunity to do practical work in the pharmacy gave me all the confidence I needed."
