Professional recruits set to impress – City News
GADENS Lawyers has appointed Erin Martin as a senior associate in its corporate risk
and insurance team. Ms Martin has experience in product and public liability, major property losses, claims management and compulsory third party insurance. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of International Business and was admitted as a solicitor in 2003. Cadens has also marked a strong start to 2010 by appointing three new solicitors Michael Kelly, Tamara Gillies and Barbara-Ann Sim. Michael Kelly has experience in bankruptcy and insolvency, general commercial litigation, construction litigation, debt capital markets and financial services regulation, and has joined Cadens' litigation and corporate recovery services team. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce and was admitted as a solicitor in 2006. Tamara Gillies has been appointed to Cadens' workplace relations team. She specialises in employment law, industrial relations and occupational health and safety. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts and was admitted as a solicitor in 2007. Barbara-Ann Sim specialises in insolvency and commercial litigation, and will join Cadens' litigation and corporate recovery services team. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Business and was admitted as a solicitor in 2006.
JONES Lang LaSalle has welcomed Gerry Leyden to the CBD commercial leasing team, an appointment that reflects the increasing strength of the Brisbane office market and the firm's confidence in a sustained economic recovery. Jones Lang LaSalle's Queensland managing director Geoff Mclntyre said the appointment of Mr Leyden to focus on the city leasing market was the first of a strategic number of appointments set to be announced over the next few months. Mr Leyden was formerly a fringe leasing specialist at DTZ and, prior to that, was with Knight Frank, said Mr Mclntyre. His experience in closing major leasing deals across the key Brisbane office markets makes him
a standout recruit to join Mark Curtain's CBD leasing team, he said.
PUBLIC Relations Institute of Australia award winner Liz Christiansen has been appointed to the role of account manager at communications consultancy BBS. Ms Christiansen has five years of experience within the public relations industry, and specialises in media relations, finance and investor relations, crisis and issues management and copywriting. As part of the BBS team in 2008, Ms Christiansen won the Public Relations Institute of Australia's Consumer Marketing Award in its 2008 State Awards for Excellence, and a Special Commendation at its national Golden Target Awards. She holds a Bachelor of Journalism and Bachelor in Business (Public Relations) from the Queensland University of Technology. To complement her role in finance and investor relations, she also holds a Diploma in Financial Services from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. BBS is one of Queensland's largest public relations consultancies, providing a full range of strategic communications services.
STEVE Wyborn has been appointed general manager at Sarina Russo Apprenticeship Services. Mr Wyborn has 20 years of experience in the employment and training industry, including a long history in the Australian Apprenticeships system. He has held a senior management role with the Sarina Russo Group for more than seven years. He recently completed an MBA through James Cook University Brisbane, and is looking forward to putting his industry experience and theoretical training to good use as he drives Sarina Russo Apprenticeship Services' performance. Mr Wyborn will work with industry and schools to send a positive message about the long-term benefits of a trade qualification.
